Steer Clear Of The Online Scams Rewarding Degrees In 5 days!

Steer Clear Of The Online Scams Rewarding Degrees In 5 days!
by: Linda Correli

Online learning becomes more accepted, that’s why it is getting harder to identify, which online educational establishments require students to finish legitimate coursework, and, which are diploma mills. The situation gets more perplexing as many legitimate universities and colleges turn to distance learning; so many students make up their minds to take classes online and get their degrees remotely.

A degree is one of the most important and expensive money investments people will have to make in their lifetime. Without a degree career doors remain closed for the majority of potential applicants. Though, the academic choice is not about to dice, putting the future career promotion at stake.

However, up to the moment more and more people, who are looking for the better career choices, and are in search of the edge in the competitive job market fall into the trap of the online scams, who offer to reward any degree in a very short period of time, sometimes as less as in five days.

A fake degree is the worst thing ever; just because a person pays money not for the knowledge he can acquire and apply in his career, though for the pseudo-credentials to trick the employers.
There are more than 300 unaccredited universities now operating. More than thirty bogus universities sell online degrees in the United States alone. While a few are start-ups or online ventures, the great majority are so called diploma or degree mills, which are bogus universities and fake schools that confer any degree at prices from $3.000 to $5.000. Diploma mills crank out “paper diplomas rather than the educational experience”, which are genuinely worthless because student’s work and operator’s handling of the mill fall behind the standard educational bench-mark.

“In his classic 1959 study of diploma mills for the American Council on Education, Robert Reid described the typical diploma mill as having the following characteristics: "no classrooms," "faculties are often untrained or nonexistent," and "the officers are unethical self-seekers whose qualifications are no better than their offerings."”

Diploma mills are fraudulent institutions of higher education that issue thousands of diplomas and confer hundreds of degrees annually, earning the aggregate income of $200 million. Diploma mills have become more prosperous because modern technology is becoming increasingly available to general public. The Internet makes bogus degrees easier to get than ever before. A huge diploma mills wave is under way, which grows stronger and stronger with each upcoming year.

John Eaton, a U.S. commissioner of education, once called diploma mills “a disgrace of the American education.”

Diploma mills prey on people’s lack of knowledge and confusion about their accreditation. It is very easy to become a victim of the online scams, who turn years of backbreaking college studying into five days’ degrees rewarding. Indeed, it is really hard to determine whether a degree earned online is really legitimate. Moreover, bogus educational establishments adopt names that are very similar to bona fide universities.

There are some things to remember when making your academic choice.

One should remember is that accreditation, which is declared valid by the U.S. Department of Education, is the highest mark of educational quality. It is very important to verify accreditation, which is given to an institution of higher education, by an agency that is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.

Admission criteria that consist entirely of you possessing a credit card are evidently the tricks of the online scams. It is a well-known fact that valid universities require applicants to pass entrance examinations, taking into account their existing academic records.

Getting a distance-education degree from a foreign school is a great imprudence, unless you are absolutely certain that the school's degrees are genuine and valid in the U.S.

The main thing is to be genned up of the possible danger, to be forewarned and to double-check legitimacy of any institution of higher education you’re going to admit to. In this regard, not to look before you leap can be a costly and consequential mistake.

What is the University of Phoenix Campus Like?

What is the University of Phoenix Campus Like?
by: Hal McIver

Established in 1976, the University of Phoenix is the oldest and arguably the most successful online university. While going online has propelled the University to the popularity that it enjoys today, it still retains its brick and mortar roots. Describing a University of Phoenix campus is a bit of a misnomer, because there is no single campus.

The University operates on three educational platforms, ground, FlexNet, and Online. Students studying through the ground or FlexNet mode take a number of their classes at one of the many University of Phoenix classrooms located throughout the US and even the world.

As the largest private university, Phoenix has 170 brick and mortar campuses located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. While over half of the school’s 230,000 strong student body studies purely online, over 100,000 attend at least some of their classes at the brick and mortar campuses.

These campuses are in many cities located in industrial parks. While this image doesn’t conjure up the grassy quads many envision when they think of the college life, their location is normally based on population density and accessibility. As a consequence, Phoenix campuses, although not always beautiful, are certainly accessible.

While the University of Phoenix is famed for its wide variety of courses and degree options, it is less widely known that only certain campuses offer specific degrees. This is especially true of those degrees which contain elements which simply cannot be translated online.

That is to say, while e-Business, a part of the College of Undergraduate Business and Management can be accessed from every campus because of its technological basis, other programs like Nursing which may require some hands-on learning are simply unavailable at certain locations.

When you consider a primarily Online University like that of Phoenix, students often fail to consider the relative strengths of programs at different campuses. While Phoenix employs a sophisticated oversight system to ensure that the level of teaching is relatively constant throughout its 170 campuses, that does not eliminate all dispersion. For example, students have stated that its Texas campuses offer a very high quality education in health, due to the strength of teachers and administrators at that campus. Similarly, students attending the University of Phoenix in New York have remarked that the quality of their education degrees was quite strong relative to the experiences of other Phoenix students located throughout the country.

Saving For Post Secondary Education

Saving For Post Secondary Education
by: Dave Lympany

Post secondary education is very expensive in North America and unless you are fairly wealthy will be a worry for most parents. Obviously, not all kids go onto University or College but if they do and you haven’t planned for it you could find yourself with a large financial burden. This would probably happen just when most families are looking at finally having some financial security

A Registered Education Savings Plan - RESP - is vital for your financial health if you have kids who you feel may want to go into post secondary education. An RESP is government sponsored (Registered with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency) and is allowed to grow tax free. Money paid from the plan at maturity may be taxed as income for the student.

The plans are administered by private companies/persons (Promoter) who will collect contributions and invest them accordingly. Up to $4,000 per beneficiary (student) can be contributed per calendar year, with a lifetime limit of $42,000 without any tax implications. Each student may have more than one plan but the limit is strictly per student.

The most important aspect of the RESP's is that the Government will add 20% to the first $2,000 per calendar year ($400) up to and including the year of the students 17th birthday. This is called the Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG) and any amounts paid in are not included in the annual limit for tax purposes.

The maximum a student can receive from CESG is $7200 over the lifetime of the plan. Any amount of CESG not claimed each year will accumulate as up to $800 can be paid if not previously claimed. If the RESP is not eventually used for educational purposes any CESG payments will have to be repaid to the government.

To apply, the student must be resident in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN) which must be provided to the promoter at the plan inception. Also, the individual making the contributions will be required to provide their SIN.

Types of RESP Plans

There are 3 main types of Plan:

Non-Family - There can be only one beneficiary but anyone (grandparents/godparents etc.) can make the contributions whenever they want for however much they want to pay.

Family - There can be one or more beneficiary's as long as they are blood relatives or adopted by the person/s making the contributions. There are no restrictions on when and how much is paid in (apart from the tax implications of over subscribing).

Group - These plans are normally offered by foundations who set how much is paid in and when. Each age group will have a particular plan and all members will take a share. There are some fairly complicated rules attached and should be thoroughly researched with the plan providers before committing.

RESP Termination

At termination/maturity, there are several options:

1. The intended student does not go into post secondary education. The contributions are returned tax free to the person who made them. The CESG is repaid to the government. Any income generated by the plan will be subject to taxation.

2. The student enrolls in a qualified program at a post secondary educational institution and completes the full program. Initially, $5000 can be paid from the plan, then after 13 weeks there is no limit to the amount paid as long as the student remains in the program. These payments are called Educational Assistance Payments (EAP's). The student cannot be receiving EI (employment Insurance) or the program must not be part of the students employment (an apprenticeship for example).

3. The proceeds can be transferred to another RESP.

4. The proceeds can be paid to a designated educational institution.

Choosing An Online Private College And University

Choosing An Online Private College And University
by: Mark Woodcock

Private colleges and Universities are known for their high standards and excellent academic programs. Their online programs are no different. If you are ready to get your Bachelor’s degree, or if you are ready to continue your post-secondary education, consider an online private college or University degree program.

Getting an education through an online private college or university degree program can be an experience that is every bit as enriching, interpersonal, and dynamic as attending college the traditional face-to-face way. A big misconception is that online learning is impersonal. This isn’t the case at all. Programs offered online present the same opportunities for group work, independent study, and interpersonal communication as do traditional methods of learning. In fact, attending college online helps to facilitate the independent learning process, as well as developing time management skills. Attending an online University takes just as much commitment as the old-fashioned way of going to school, and the potential career and personal benefits are just as great, if not greater. As the popularity of attending college online increases, more campus-based private colleges and Universities are joining the fast-growing group of online-only private colleges and Universities in offering several different levels of degrees over the Internet, presenting students with broader educational options, as well as flexibility and convenience.

There are many advantages for a student seeking a secondary education to choose an online private college and University degree program. Proximity is a key factor. A student does not need to live locally to an accredited private college or University. Attending all classes and submitting coursework online eliminates the need for commuting or relocating. Earning a degree from an online private college or University is a convenient way to advance your education and training. A school may offer more sections of popular courses, as well as night and weekend courses, which allows a student more flexibility. This is an ideal situation for those who work full time and/or care for a family. Additionally, if you are a student who is considering returning to school after several years, going to school online is a perfect way to ease into the routine of class work and projects again, and can lessen the stress of feeling the need to fit in with younger students. Besides, who wouldn’t find it appealing to attend college from the comforts of home?
If you are worried that you might not be able to afford a degree from an online private college or University program, there are options. Some employers might offer to pay a portion or even all tuition and fees toward an employee receiving a degree. Also, financial aid in the form of grants, loans, and even scholarships might be available to you. Check with the particular online program of interest to see what financial options are available.

The type of degree you can earn through an online private college or University degree program is vast. Aside from earning Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and PhD degrees, professionals can continue their educations and stay up to the minute in their fields. Online learning is no longer just for web designers and computer programmers. You may study Business, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Humanities, Mathematics, Human Resources, Fine Arts, and various Healthcare programs. Depending on the type of degree you are seeking (graduate, for example), there may be certain academic requirements that you have to fulfill to be able to attend. Make sure you do your research when trying to decide on an online private college or University.

With the prevalence of the Internet and technologies such as teleconferencing available today, it is possible to come away from the experience of attending and online private college or University not only with a degree, but also being more in tune with technology, which has the potential to broaden your career opportunities even more. Seeking an education through an online private college or University degree program is a legitimate, convenient, and flexible way for you to advance you education, as well as your career and personal potential.

So You Wanna Have a College Degree Do Ya??

So You Wanna Have a College Degree Do Ya??
by: Arch McNab

You come out of the front door of the house trailing drips of coffee and loose scraps of paper leaving the kids screams and the wife’s ‘be careful honey’ in your wake. Juggling everything you struggle to open the door of the rust heap that you charitably call ‘the ride’. Once inside you realize that you have left the keys dangling in the keylock. No problem you think as you unwind the window thinking to yourself that well, at least it isn’t a power window so you don’t have to drag your sorry butt out of the car. As the window gives a little jerk and then a thud that announces with a certain finality that, yes its off its track, you realize the futility of congratulating yourself on anything today.

“Today is a Monday, today is a Monday”, squeak the protesting windshield wipers as you move from the center of the street closer to the edge trying to avoid the road spray of passing cars who seem to instinctively know that your driver’s side window won’t roll up. Somehow the fact that it’s almost March seems to make your wet left arm even colder and you idly wonder if it’s possible to get pneumonia through a soggy forearm. Luckily there’s a parking spot down at the far end of the lot, well past the paved section but then if you’re five minutes late, you have to take what is left.

Five minutes late!! How could you possibly be five minutes late? You break into a run for the door, ignoring the searing pain in your ankle as you twist it on the broken edge of the pavement, hoping against hope that you can slip in and make it to your work station undetected. You’re halfway down the hallway before a head thrusts out and you’re trapped in the beady gaze of the shift supervisor. He deigns to say anything, just turns his nose high and sniffs disdainfully, but you can be sure that your tardiness has been duly recorded and your meager pay-stub will reflect the gaffe.

Now totally rattled, feeling a little subdued and a lot out of breath from your little wind sprint across the parking lot, you grab your chipped coffee mug and totter down to the pot. As usual, in the coffee pot, there is a new miracle of physics on display. How, you wonder, is it possible to leave so little coffee in the pot and still not feel that it’s somehow time to put on a new pot? Surely, anyone with half a brain can see that there isn’t enough coffee left to fill even a small thimble sized expresso cup. Just then the half-a-brain that you were visualizing skips by the door stopping briefly to announce in self-justifying tones that if they hadn’t put on a fresh pot because, you see, the old one wasn’t all gone.

Minutes later you’re back at your desk, head in your hands, eyes squeezed shut you’re trying to visualize somewhere warm and tropical to soothe the sudden migraine you feel coming on when your door is assaulted by a rapping resembling a red cockaded woodpecker on steroids. The grim faced door rapper disgorges the entire contents of his message in a machine-gun burst.

Boss wants to see you in his office in fifteen minutes sharp!! Don’t be late!

Now your stomach really starts to churn, making you wish that, yes indeed, you had taken the time to have breakfast this morning and that you weren’t stuck in this dead end job and that yes, you had stayed on in school and gone to college with all of your buddies. After all, it seemed as though they had all done well, none of them working in this sweatshop like yours truly drawing down a salary rivaling that of pimply faced mickdee’s rep, you realize grimly.

Leaving your work station, you notice on the computer monitor loaded with the day’s drivel that passes for news, a tiny little box with one of those annoying ‘click here’ logos. You squint at it, trying to make out the blurry words that would be so much clearer if you hadn’t left your glasses on the bathroom counter at home and wonder if those words are the answer to your problems. ‘Get your college degree online!’ proclaims the info box nestled between late breaking news related to Cher’s surgery abuse and claims about Brad’s fidelity or lack thereof. Could you really do this? You, the guy that every neighbor loves to have on his street, just so they can always feel superior to someone.

But how would it all play out if you did what the http://10-best-online-college-degrees.com/ suggested? What if you did suddenly apply for an online college degree? And even more dizzying, what if you went out and got it? Now your mind is in hyper-drive, imagining that day when you can swagger on down the hall, so unlike the little journey you’re about to embark upon now, and tell that little pinched faced desk dweller exactly what you think of him, his job, and your “promising career of creating plastic molds for fish-ponds.

Hey, hang on. You’re not going to let that career ending thought take over your mind. Not today. Today was shaping up to be one of those days that really made a person stop and take stock. Not that there was a lot of stock to take, in fact very little at all, truth be told. If you had stayed in school and gone on to university or even college then things would be oh so different. Well they would, wouldn’t they? Sure they would, your mind answers back. And it’s not too late, in fact if those claims by these online schools were true, in just a few short years you could really be graduating with one of many online college degrees. It all sounded just a little bit too good to be true, but still you file that away in your mind as you head down the hall, footsteps dragging ever slower, rivaling those of the chained monster in a B movie…….to be continued….

How to Study - Power Learning: Getting By With Online College Degree Studies

by: Peter J. Loughlin, J.D., LL. M

Ever wonder why some online college degree students know how to study seem to quickly learn, recall and excel in school while others (perhaps your child or you) never seem to quite get it. You’re probably just as smart in all other respects, right? Well what’s the problem? (And what is power learning?)

Most of us are born with good minds, but some just use them better than others. I believe that the best students naturally find a good study system and just keep on using it because it works. For others, learning in school just doesn’t come natural—that’s the problem!

Power Learning can be that answer because it recognizes how most people learn and teaches them how to study. Have you ever noticed toddlers learning complex language and social skills, and they’re having fun too, right. Well you see, in our education system all the fun has been removed. Most young children love kindergarten and the first grade because teachers at that level generally try to encourage students to learn by making the experience fun. By the second or third grade, however, all this stops and students must be quiet, sit still, and learn. That puts the stop on natural learning and is the main reason why most people don’t have any idea how to study for online college degrees—or traditional degrees!

A few online college degree students are able to make the transition but for most of us it is a struggle because the new learning process is so unnatural. Learning should be fun right? Students fall behind, not because they’re not smart enough, but because the regular learning system is completely unnatural its no longer fun, its work.

What to do? Power Learn. Power Learning is a system that follows a natural education progression, and its fun. Once learned it can be applied to any subject from K1 through college. Essentially, power learning deals with teaching good how to study methods that work and are applicable to any learning topic. If online college degree students learn how to study and have fun doing it, good results will follow.

One of the principles of power learning is the SQ3R principle which stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review. How can something so simple work? I don’t know, but it does. For me that’s what really matters. The system was developed by Dr. Paul Pimsleur, the famous educator and linguist from Columbia University to help students of all ages quickly and permanently learn and, to have fun in the process. Online college degree students are dire need of learning how to study because they are frequently missing good feedback form their professors and peers. Power Learning has many variations today, but the basic principle is always the same -- you need a system and you need to make it fun. Power Learning can be applied to:
. All Academic Subjects K-1 through College
. Learning Foreign Languages
. Speed Reading
. CLEP Examinations
. Exam Preparation
. You name it

Are we having fun yet?

Online Education: Study At Your Own Pace!

by: Dana Goldberg

Online education is becoming increasingly popular because it allows people who may not ordinarily have the opportunity to get qualifications, to do so. Those of us who work do not have the time to commit to full time education and with bills to pay, and family to look after it becomes even more difficult to fit evening courses into an already full schedule. However, an online education means you can study at your own pace and time while still earning a reputable and useful qualification.

Regardless of the area you want to study you will be able to find an online college or university that offers the qualification you are looking for. Start by looking around your local area because even online education may sometimes require personal tutoring or exams and these can’t always be done on the Internet.

Once you know the course you want to study and you have applied, it’s time to start working. An online education demands a greater level of commitment and you should make sure that you always offer the commitment that is required. You will have to do all your work off your own back in order to earn the qualification you want, but this means you should have a greater sense of satisfaction when completed.

Those who study through an online education facility have, in years gone by, struggled to receive the full acclamation for their efforts. However, reports show that executive and higher paid jobs invariably go to those with a degree or similar qualifications and employees now recognize the level of commitment and need for pro activity that is required to complete and online education course. You too could take advantage of this recognition while still retaining your current job. In fact, you could use your newfound qualification to get the promotion or pay rise that you feel you deserve.
